Photo project:

Since 30daysofbiking had such a signifcance impact on many people, myself included, I decided I needed a new challenge for this April’s edition. I needed a challenge to involve myself in the community behind 30daysofbiking more. I thought at first I could just tell my (past) gushing love story that started because of 30daysofbiking. I thought I could just compile 30 different bike photographs from bike racks and show them off, that was too easy (and can be done without talking or communicating with anyone).
I kept thinking. Then I reflected, I’ve been seeing life from behind a view finder for six years now. I know this is my strongest passion. I mean, I killed two dslrs sensors from the amount of photographing. Usually, focusing on photojournalism of political (social) events or enjoying daily life. Or obsessively looking deeply into tree branches. But I realized I lacked developing a photo skill set in posing people.
So, the challenge stands - 30 portraits (or more, says the hopeful) of people and the bikes they pedal. (Not quite in 30 days but if that happens, it happens - my goal is just before May.)
How can this happen?
* You live in the twin cities area.
* You want to be visually part of a project, instead of just a biking stat.
* You desire moments of laughter about sharing stories about the things we’ve seen on the Greenway. Or just that one bike adventure that didn’t quite go so well. We’ll even make new biking memories!
* You contact me and we discuss ideas, plot out a ride and where we should meet.
For the investment of $75,
* You get a new friend, whom you can openly talk my ear off about bike specs!
* A one hour photo session on location.
* Drool worthy close ups of your bike, as pieces of the puzzle - abstractly.
* Portraits of you and your bike but it doesn’t go anywhere without you, so the beauty is in the two!
Please contact me for more details or discussions, sundvall.kendra at gmail dot com or @backroad Twitter. I can’t wait to meet you!
New work for sale…
I’m hoping to sell these sets of 2, 6x6 squares local or via shipping rather then posting them on Etsy, for now. If local, in Minneapolis proper I will bike or walk deliver them gladly. Part of this experience is the need I have for building more connections, community with those around me. $20 for 2 (or let’s discuss, still feeling out pricing).
Materials: reused Fraser Paper, cardboard, acrylic, oil pastels, rubber cement
Found this on the way, walking to Tao Natural Foods early afternoon to meet a fellow, to talk compassion and passions. It aligned with the 3 things that our conversation was about.
